Luz Y Verdad

This week, our team has been doing a variety of supporting activities at the elementary school Colegio Luz y Verdad (Light and Truth). It is a well established Christian school that serves ages 4 to 10 (kindergarten to 5th grade) here in Cartegena. The kids are very well-loved, well-behaved, and interested in learning English.

We have enjoyed dancing with the kids, telling Bible stories, playing games (e.g. a relay race), teaching people safety skills (.Gisella from KidPower Argentina has been an amazing support person!) One really great thing is that the kids on the team have had opportunities to teach.  This includes Eloise and Eila!  Yesterday, Eloise (the oldest kid on the team) partnered with Bethany (the second oldest) to guide the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes through the story of Elisha and his servant in 2 Kings 6.  They had lead a discussion, a reflective art time, and short teaching about the story, all through an interpreter.  I'm so proud of Eloise!  My only disappointment is that I wasn't able to be there. I was meeting with Lourdes, the principal, another teacher, and Gisella from Kidpower.  Remember to imagine every physical action described (even sitting still) as taking place in a sauna.  For example, today is 91 degrees with a humidity of 76%..the internet says it feels like 115 degrees.  The sweat that trickles and tickles confirms this.
